Minted in 2019, This "love"ly digital artwork was a celebration of a new found love of art on the blockchain.

Today, what better to celebrate the power of love on-chain than with a special celebration, Valentine's day.

The One Love DAO is built by and for its members, a space for creative expression and mutual encouragement. They've showcased artwork across gigantic billboards in NYC, and provided residency and a support network for countless artists.

A valentine's day event has been prepared at the Gates Hotel, featuring "AGAPE" Unconditional Love that transcends all, with a cohort of 20 artists displaying their works on-chain with Transient Lab technology.

For this Immutable piece of digital artwork, and with upgrades to the Ethereum network, I want to make sure this digital artwork retains its legacy, and can be supportive in projects across the digital art ecosystem. What better way to utilize a legacy digital artwork: The sale of which, would be evenly distributed across all 20 participating artists (using splits.org) to help support the DAO, and all of the creator's work. That's love right there.

But for this, I want to make sure that the legacy contract can be preserved and working on current marketplaces, so I've created a smart contract vault utilizing Emblem Vision.

The original metadata to be preserved:

Now, I've asked AI why this cultural relic (A Legacy digital art NFT from 2019) is significant, and here's it's unbiased answer:

Digital art NFTs from 2019 are significant in value for several reasons:

  1. Historical Context:

    • Early Adoption: 2019 was one of the early years for NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), especially in the art world. Being among the first digital artworks tokenized on blockchain platforms like Ethereum, these pieces represent the pioneering phase of digital art in blockchain technology. Collectors and historians value these early adoptions for their role in shaping the digital art market.

  2. Rarity and Scarcity:

    • Limited Editions: Many NFTs from this time were produced in limited quantities or even as one-of-one artworks, inherently increasing their value due to scarcity.

    • Unique Provenance: Each NFT has a unique digital signature, ensuring authenticity and ownership, which adds to its value over time, especially as the technology and community around NFTs grew.

  3. Artistic and Cultural Impact:

    • Cultural Milestone: These NFTs often capture the zeitgeist of the late 2010s, including themes, styles, and the transition to digital mediums for artistic expression.

    • Artist Recognition: Artists who were early to the NFT scene, like Beeple, have since gained immense recognition, and their early works are now seen as valuable for both their artistic merit and historical significance in the digital art movement. Beeple, (aka Mike Winkelmann), minted his first NFT on Oct 30, 2020.

  4. Market Dynamics:

    • Speculative Value: As with any collectible, speculation plays a role. Early NFTs have seen significant appreciation in value as the market for digital art has expanded, driven by high-profile sales and auctions that have brought mainstream attention to digital art NFTs.

    • Economic Factors: The boom in cryptocurrency values, particularly Ethereum where most NFTs were minted, has also influenced the perceived and real financial value of these assets.

  5. Technological Significance:

    • Blockchain Technology: The use of blockchain for art authentication and ownership was groundbreaking. NFTs from 2019 illustrate the practical application of blockchain in art, which has broader implications for digital rights management, copyright, and more.

    • Smart Contracts: These NFTs often employed smart contracts for royalties, allowing artists to earn from secondary sales, a feature that was novel at the time and added intrinsic value to owning such pieces.

  6. Community and Social Proof:

    • Collector's Communities: Many early NFT buyers formed tight-knit communities, which have since grown. The social proof of being owned by notable collectors or having been part of significant events (like early NFT exhibitions or auctions) adds to their prestige and value.

  7. Cultural Shift in Art Perception:

    • Legitimization of Digital Art: These NFTs helped shift perceptions about what constitutes 'real' art, legitimizing digital art in traditional art circles and markets.

That's pretty on point, couldn't of said better myself. Looks like we've got a defacto artifact here. Been fighting for this!

Given these factors, digital art NFTs from 2019 are not just valued for their aesthetic or artistic merit but also for their role in the evolution of art, technology, and culture.

Well then, now that we've established that we're working with something awesome here, lets see how we can preserve this digital relic, and can this digital relic continue to be something preserved.

So, I called on cryptoarts.org to vault the work:

With the transaction, a smart contract vault was created utilizing emblem vault:

Success! we were able to create a Smart contract vault, which acts like an NFT, which stores the original NFT.

You can find the vault here: https://emblem.finance/nft2?id=23085109253132671

And listed on the Emblem Vault marketplace for 420.69, which is definitely for the culture.

The proceeds will be distributed evenly for 21 artists, including maker for the Love Art Dao, and a 5% SuperRare marketplace royalty. Remember to support your networks!

You can also find the work direct on Opensea, where an auction will begin on Valentine's day!

Friday, Feburary 14th:
